Writing

A New Departure – the first of many

It’s been a long time. It’s had to be a long time. I’ve been editing and mulling, mulling and editing. Worrying that my life and writing is moving in ever-decreasing circles. Still having to earn a living with a day job. Rearranging my work and writing space in my never-ending search for a tidiness I know I won’t actually ever reach.

My tenth published novel is here. Finally. Four years in the writing, including four full edits. Something totally different. And yet not so different, because it’s about love and strength, one way or another. And about women setting themselves free in different ways. It had to be. They always have to be. These words.

And an outcry against AI and against xenophobia. That’s why, amongst a whole rainbow of reasons, it’s called Xenophilia. And it’s set in Agios Nikolaos on Crete, in a forever summer, sweltering, free, real, uncomfortable, troubled, hospitable.

Here’s the departure, the first of many – it won’t be available electronically. I’m not having my work scraped by machines. And if some thief decides to rip the covers off and OCR it, I’ll know. I have a new distributor, too, which does have channels into Amazon, but I don’t want you to order it from there. Order it from here instead. This is the prime channel for distribution. I may get myself some copies for hand-selling, but right now it won’t be available from my web site either.

Those other departures:

In the fullness of time, I’m going to be moving all my books away from amazon (except for Dead Men, because that’s not mine to control the distribution of), and deleting all the e-versions of them. Hardcopy is the new progress in these writing ventures. Hardcopy is the new modern. It’s not retro; it’s just more real.

So, if you do buy it, don’t lend it to your friends or families. Buy them copies of it, too. Everyone wins that way.
