plead
another word for beg
on our knees
submissive
last resort
negation of self
of no value
sacrifice
no self-esteem
grovelling
covered in the shit
of living dominated
no free will
lost
chained
prisoner
attachment anxiety
clutching at straws
scrabbling in the mud
detritus
monsters
rejects
dismissed
deserted

Whenever he pleads insanity,
Reason clears the courtroom
Of any misunderstanding,
Reveals without mercy
His manipulations, his violation
Of the truth and its consequences,
The ill-thought-out impulses, there
On those flimsy pieces of paper
Masquerading as poems, fragments
Of some greater whole, when there
Never was a bigger picture than
The short-term seduction of some
Innocent mind and/or body, where
The turning of the screw was always
For his own gain. But reason has
No power over charm, and he
Walks free again.

Today’s #MastoPrompt was #plead. The second poem too long to fit into Mastodon’s character limit.

Acupuncture day. Lots of cupping of the troublesome left shoulder and moxing of troublesome stomach and back. I’ll take a picture of the bruises tomorrow. And see how my body is in the morning, because it’s not in its greatest place. Shrug and reach for the next hour.
