Hypocrisy

For someone who’s never been
In need, it’s easy not to feel guilty
For those who are, and to keep putting
That shovel-sized fork full of rich food
Into his mouth until even he can’t eat
Any more. Yet his plate is still half-full
As he sends away the rest of his fifth
Course without asking for a doggie bag.
The next day he complains about beggars
And food banks and overflowing food
Bins, and the lack of effort among
The homeless and hungry.
