#NewMusicFriday 20/09/2024 – and early kick-offs

I was going to try to write this yesterday, but the early kick-off at Norwich thwarted me, and I ran out of time. I really do dislike early kick-offs. They totally mess up the day, and split it into unmanageable bits. Football should start at 3pm on a Saturday or 7:30pm on a week day. Not at any other time. Just for the devil of satellite TV the game has sold its soul to. It used to be the people’s game.

Here’s some people’s music:

Chest – Placid
Berries – Watching Wax
The Silver Lines – Watch Yourself Boy
The Alaska Trap – Silhouettes
Club Paradise – Years
Runner Up – Curriculum Vitae
Specky Cult – Swish
The Glitterbombs – LGB (with the TNB)
Band Spectra feat Olivesque – Bizarre & Temporary World
The Cure – Siamese Twins (1982)
The Cure – A Strange Day (1982)
Blanid – A Good Good Wife
ARPRAXIS – Beats at Rolive – Escape the Upscale
OneDa – The Western Way
Yellow Belly – Crux
Disco Mary – I Think Therefore I Am
Jacob Alon – Fairy In A Bottle

I couldn’t resist playing those two Cure tracks, because they are arguably two of the greatest songs that band ever made. They bring back good and bad memories, but then that’s what life is all about – moving forwards whilst still remembering.

And plenty of candidates for Not Nul Points 2024. It’ll be that time of year again before too long when I have to put my mind to picking the best 20 to 23 songs of this musical year. But I’ll not think about that yet, because there are still just over two hours of summer to go as I write this.

As always, stream or buy these songs as often as possible.

Loved your track. Listened to first 20 secs and thought “Banger!” 🙂
