Music

#NewMusicFriday 22/11/2024 – and a new book

Let’s start at the end before I reach the beginning. The final song in the show was the music I originally used when Dead Men was released, and I was then, in 2012, very kindly allowed to use it by Jack Stevens, the man behind the band, and, in my view, a real talent. He even performed the song solo and live at the Dead Men book launch in Stradbroke library. And he has very kindly allowed me to use tit for the Ice Child book trailer, too. So I thought it only appropriate to play it on the show. And if you cast your eyes to the right, you’ll see the link there for you to get a very expensive signed copy of Ice Child direct from me.

The week was still quite hectic, but at least this time round, the hour and a bit of recording was a real oasis of real calm in the carnage around me. And it reminded me that I really must make more time to sit down and listen to loud music in my office. Self-care is so expensive in terms of time and finances (when you decide to have therapy and alternative therapies), but I do hope it’s worth it. Just still waiting for my body to rid itself of the remnant of the cold.

Those tracks:

The Marra – I Can’t Sleep
Pharmacists – Is It Everything?
Little Juke – No Illusions (Radio Edit)
Valeska Rautenberg – Fragile World
Just Like Clay – All Inside My Head
Dreaming Of Citra – Bitter
These Dead Machines – Phantoms
Hannah Lou Clark – Radio Silence
Billy Bragg – Waiting For The Great Leap Forwards (1988)
CloudFairy – Can Not Let You Go
King In Yellow – Lucid Dream
The Lathums – Stellar Cast
The Clockworks – Blah Blah Blah
Cherry Fuzz Club – Country
Luvcat – Dinner @ Brasserie Zedel
Jock – Joe Duffy
Cathedrals & Cars – Leaving No Reminders (2011)

And that’s it. Stream the hell out of these tunes, as always, or buy them. There are unfortunately some spotify links in there because I couldn’t find the tracks elsewhere, but at least you get to hear the tunes.
