#NewMusicFriday – 23/05/2025
I think one of the choices I’ve made in the last couple of weeks (where I’ve decided only to do what I want to do, not what I think I need to do) is that I’m sick and tired of social media, so only use it very occasionally. Part of me feels bad, because I’ve used it so extensively, especially since 2016, to agitate and to be political, but I’ve lost the enthusiasm for it. Twitter had always been my favourite place, but since Musk bought it, I’ve hardly used it, and since Trimp won and Musk did his fascist salute, I’ve not used it at all, and locked it (I don’t want anyone taking over my handle, so I’ve not deleted it).
I have done a lot of writing, and my polemic voice is alive and well again, although I’ve not been sharing anything, because I don’t feel the urge or need.
But this weekly post is important, because it signposts the artists I play on my show, and they deserve to have their music heard, not just on the show, and added to people’s playlists rather than AI and the algorithm determining what people listen to. That’s why I keep doing the show, too.
Digital Resistance – Phantoms Of Peace
The Cavs – Headshot
Vampire Slumber Party – Sea Kelp
