sacred mountain

at the top of the sacred mountain
the same shape as the cold which
surrounds her she kneels on the sharp
ice her hands flat against the serrated
edges of this height blood drawn
at the softest touch a red river at each
intersection of her body with this
place of birth death rebirth and
symbiosis every limb a multiple
of renewing cells every thought a
maze of connections fires impulse
and certainty and as the sun rises
after months of darkness she absorbs
it fades and vanishes and returns
her entire being framed by the halo
only a woman on this mountain now
could ever wear
