The Men In Suits

The men in suits who’ve never been under
Bombs at night, pretend to be tough men,
Play to what they think their domestic
Audience and their Russian master want.

It must gall them
To realise
Everyone knows
They’re cowards.

The men in suits agreed their strategy
In advance: humiliate, all of us against
That little man in his quaint uniform
With is upright stance and stature.

It must gall them
To see
The world mock
Them.

The men in suits believe they can do
No wrong, believe all their wrongs
Are right, imagine themselves beating
The small man to a bloody pulp; done.

It galls them
He walked away
A greater man
Than they.

The men in suits count their weaponry
And laugh in their sycophancy corridors.
We beat him alright, that man who thinks
Standing tall makes him a real leader.

It galls them
He didn’t play
Their game,
His dignity.
