The Other Troy

The Other Troy

Where Helen doesn’t get kidnapped by Paris,
And all the women aren’t just powerless observers
Of their own fates.

Where Achilles and Hector are friends,
Not bent on each other’s destruction,
Instead join forces to rebel against
The deathless gods and their deceitful
Prophesies, promises, and lies,
For the good of all humankind.

Where poets sing of the feats of
Braided women and their faithful men,
The city stands forever from antiquity
To the present day, and the course
Of history is changed by all the peoples
Of the Earth, and the gods are banished
To always be imprisoned on their Olympus,
Stripped of all their powers.
