Gluttonous

Gluttonous

He glowers, even in his accidental sleep
By the historic desk, each previous
Occupier a better person than he. His
Phone in his pocket reflects the value
Of his tenancy of this place to him,
Numbers those struggling for a
Living could never understand.
He grasps at the fabric of society,
Wrenches and wrings it out for his
Benefit, not that of posterity or
The country he claims to lead. Even
His most disastrous political
Decisions make him richer. He is
A glutinous gluttonous creature on
The brink of madness, already shrouded
In evil and malice. He believes that
Even death can’t touch him now,
That he has the strength to ward off
Bullets and democracy. On his throne,
Straining, he believes he has already won.
