Day 360

RUNNING

We’re always running out of time,
Always looking around the same corners
At different landscapes, those parallel
Universes of fear and hope, those
Parallax separate lines that seem to
Meet and never meet, and suddenly
Flood into each other when we least
Want them to, and cancel each other
Out, and nothing is left, but the dark

That gives way to another day of
Running and watching and waiting
When we don’t have time to wait
Nor waste, when we want it all to stand
Still, to halt, when we want that
Running sand to wait for us, to
Freeze while we move, the static
Giving us the time to act, but it never
Does, and ticks on, obstinate.
