#NewMusicFriday 13/09/2024
Don’t ask me where the weeks go. A post later on my substack might explain some of that, but not in the depth I’d like it to. If we understood ourselves, it would be better for all of us. We might then at least be on the brink of being able to understand those around us, andf those we share our lives with.
As it is, I was glad to be able again, in a sort of fragmented way, descend into my hour of new music and largely forget about the real world around me (although I did end up having a video call with one of the children while I was recording the show – and who said men can’t multitask?).
Another set of fabulous music this week:
See Emily Play – YOKO ONO WAS SEVEN YEARS OLDER THAN JOHN
Sea Cadets – Magnolia
Akrobat – Verlaine
the IV – Same old story
The 23s – Youth
Roxanne de Bastion – Skin
Midnight & The Patio Chairs – Can Someone Turn The Sun On Again
Crimson City – Queen Foul
Destroy All Monsters – Bored (1979)
Lee Switzer-Woolf – Flying Sauncer Working Party
ugly ozo – remains
Aderyn – Hangxiety
Chest – Filth
Emmeline – Can’t Catch Me Now!
Thank – Do It Badly
For some odd reason, these are all soundcloud links this week, which I prefer. This brings you much closer to these amazing artists who have the courage and talent to put their new music out there for people to listen to. And get scant reward for it, to be perfectly honest. And perhaps you’ll be encouraged to buy some of these new tunes, too. Life is hard enough for creatives without having to struggle to have their voices heard. There’s always room for new voices on my shows. Because they’re what really matters.
