Reminisce

Is it worth even saying or thinking
That we’re not the people we once were?
Tennyson said it, probably in a different
Context, but the same. To reminisce is
Not the answer; it’s not even an answer.
To do so is to flee, to run away from the
New without accepting or attempting to
Understand.

Yet turn the mirror, and ask why we don’t
Confront a change we see as a decline,
Ask why we don’t question our state, nor
Seek to regenerate not as the people
We once were, but as newer, better, more
Complete, more awake, stronger
Bodies and souls.
