He treats the flight like any other
In the days air travel was still a thing.
Flight time 3 days, not the 3 hours for
the Mediterranean islands then.
Alone except for his autopilot,
He grieves those times.
The video shows him a mass of workers,
Escaping the gravity of Earth’s mess,
To build more human habitats
On the intransigent moon,
Postponing the problems until
Only a new universe would be the answer.
He prays for a wormhole.
Countdown zero.

Above is the Masto version. Below the full original.

He treats the flight like he would any other
In the days when terrestrial commercial air travel
Was still a thing. Flight time 3 days instead of
The 3 hours for a European holiday; destination
Temperature between minus 130C and plus 120C,
Not the 40C of the Mediterranean islands he
Used to guide the planes to. Alone, except for his
Autopilot, he shakes his head at the disappearance
Of those times when humanity took long breaks
For granted. The video feed from the cabin
Shows him a mass of workers, escaping the
Gravity of Earth’s mess, ready, or not, to
Build more underground human habitats
On the intransigent moon, just postponing
The problems until only a new universe would
Be the answer. He prays for a wormhole
As he pushes the button. Countdown zero.
