When I’m exhausted or hyperactive,
All the darkest parts of my soul
Form themselves into words of stories,
Of imagined catastrophes or successes,
Depending on interpretation, blood,
Guts, excesses of voracity,
The anti-hero tendencies we admire,
Like it or not, because they often seem
Like real freedom, where nothing can
Ever be of consequence. The real me
Would never go down those roads,
Guarded by sacred morality, somehow.
We all have #beasts within us.

As usual, two versions. The longer:

When I’m exhausted or hyperactive,
All the darkest parts of my soul come out
To form themselves into words of stories,
Of those imagined catastrophes or successes,
Depending on interpretation, the blood,
The guts, the excesses of voracity,
The anti-hero tendencies we admire,
Like it or not, because they often seem
Like real freedom, where nothing can
Ever be of consequence. The real me
Would never go down those roads,
Guarded by sacred morality, somehow.
We all have beasts within us.

Mad day. Boiler broken when I woke. Snow storm. Youngest needed lift to work because getting to work soaked would not have been good. Boiler fixed by the time I got back, and back before the 46-minute Mozart Requiem I was playing out on the radio had run its course (12 mins to spare, in fact). Crazy email storm, too, as it has been every day this year. Back to it on Monday. For now, peace, rest; of a fashion. And the BBC imploding – that’s very sad, but presaged by its senior management’s attitude since 2016. I’ll just get the popcorn.

Edited to add:

Beastly Biased Crowd gangs up on those
With views that threaten Conservative
Propaganda on terrestrial media.

Big Brother Corporation wants to rule
From within the walls of the island state,
Dare not criticise false knighthoods.

Blacklist Bearing Chairmen arrange
Crooked loans for the already rich,
Steal from the tables in foodbanks.

Boorish Bootlicking Careerists refuse
The truth. It is beyond sad to see
Innovation crumble to tyranny.
