Poetry

We have taken the night off from our marriage,
Dance in the muted candlelight with whomever
We choose, our plague masks held in place by
Locked chains we cannot undo ourselves. The
Only way to overcome this particular prison is
To use our tongues and hands and feet
To take the minuets and polkas to their extremes.
And when the chains are finally loosed and our eyes
Opened, we are well on our ways home to our respective
Masquerades.
