Artisan

Her hands,
Bony, veiny, strong,
Have the arts of resurrection
In them, those multiple
Crafts of pleasure
And spirit.

She only uses pleasure in the
Here and now, to bring her
Flagging lovers back to life
In their temporary blossoming
As winter deepens before
Their spring deaths.

Her true artisanship is
Only revealed after she has
Buried them and is alone again,
When she puts her hands on her
Belly and on the world,
To bring ancient souls
Back to life.
