Day 295

CAPTAINS

This island is adrift now
From the world it tried
To rule and destroyed
Instead. Irrelevancy is
Its brand in these days.

Friendless, it turns the war
On its own people, and
Starves them out of
Existence for the sake of
Imaginary profit.

Continental drift means
Something different here
In this deserted kingdom
Which speaks no languages
Other than its own.

Deaf to sense and blind
To honour, these captains of
Of chaos dress their failure
In long and empty words
And golden cloaks.
