Despite all the money flooding in, he
Felt like a beggar. Even being PM had
Given him a poor return on the lies he’d
Invested in his future, when he’d assumed
There’d be unending undisclosed financial
Favours coming his way for lying and moving
The odd lever of power. He’d even thought
Of having a throne built for himself, but
That hadn’t been a popular idea. Now
All he had was the house his speeches
Bought, near the university he’d lied
His way into. This was not the plan.
