The sun slices an alien light
Into the sepia of the gloaming
To create abstract shapes of angles
And curves and shade. The world
Becomes two-dimensional in
The orange haze of the day’s
Ending and night’s beginning.
It is a holy time where the noise
Around ebbs into a closed box,
And the light crackles with
Sad songs of ephemera.
