Jumper

She saw him out of the corner
Of her one still-functioning eye as
She rushed across the deserted bridge
To her one-bedroomed cupboard south
Of the oppressive river, and stopped.
On the tips of her toes she slid up to
The rail, and pulled him down
By his waist before he knew she was
There. The rest is history. The jumper
Saved by the half-blind cat of a
Woman. They live now with their
One-eyed children in a palace of dreams.
