Do you remember when we felt happy?
Perhaps we weren’t, and it was just a
Temporary illusion because we chose
To forget what was outside of what we
Considered love then, all bundled up
In our sweaty duvets and empty days
Except for kissing and pretending we
Actually ruled the world and our
Destiny. We gave that feeling away
Too quickly because we were drawn
By the imperative pull of making more
Like us and ignored precedent.
